Healthyhomes.net: New Website for Locating Healthy Homes Contractors

Check out www.hhcontractors.org.  It is a new pilot listing to help consumers, property managers, health and housing professionals find a consultant or contractor to assess or control a healthy homes hazard.
You can use it to find firms or individuals that hold one of 22 credentials administered by organizations that have a credible review and approval process.  The list of credential programs on the website is at www.hhcontractors.org.

Finding a consultant or contractor to assess or control a healthy homes hazard is challenging. Consultants and contractors tout their qualifications but few buyers can judge the strength of the qualifications. With www.hhcontractors.org, you sort through the mix by searching for contractors or consultants in your area with one or more credentials.  You can view their documentation and get more information about each credential program so you can make your own decision.

The website is only a screening tool.  A credential is not a guarantee that the contractor or consultant will do a good job for you.  You should always check references and prior work.

If you know of a consultant or contractor who should be on the list, send the person to www.hhcontractors.org/Firm/FirmLogin.php so they can get signed up.

If you know of a credential program that should be added, please let us know.
We are evaluating several programs now and hope to add more in the future.

The website is developed and run by National Capitol Contracting and the National Center for Healthy Housing, and funded by HUD’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control.  The website is in its pilot stage so if you have suggestions for improving the user experience, we look forward to your feedback.
