Do you know that in the United States, there are no restrictions on ingredients allowed in body care products, no requirement to test products for harmful chemicals and the Food & Drug Administration has no ability to recall dangerous products? Where is our regulatory system when we need it?
We’ve started to make a difference: Thanks to you, 5,000 activists Raised a Stink and sent letters to Susan G. Komen for the Cure about their pink ribbon perfume, getting Komen leadership’s attention. Raise A Stink! also generated a media buzz from coast to coast.
But although Promise Me perfume will be reformulated, it’s still just one out of the thousands of beauty products on the market laden with toxic and harmful ingredients, whether or not they carry a pink ribbon on them.
So what now? Our next step is to invite you to participate in our free webinar on November 29th and 30th. BCAction, together with two of our favorite groups—the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the Environmental Working Group—will present “Toxic Cosmetics: What consumers don’t know about their beauty products and what you can do about it.”
