One in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and 70-80% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer.

In response to a brainstorming workshop of researchers, clinicians and advocates, The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and National Cancer Institute (NCI) established the Breast Cancer and Environmental Research Centers (BCERC) Network in 2003. Four centers throughout the US conduct laboratory and population-based research on the periods of susceptibility when the developing breasts of women and girls are vulnerable to environmental exposures.

On November 16-18, 2011, join the Breast Cancer and Environmental Research Program’s Extended Environmental Exposures Annual Meeting in Cincinnati, OH, to learn about the latest biologic and epidemiologic breast cancer research findings. Attendance is free, but you must pre-register.
