Indiana Healthy Homes and Child Care Conference

Just wanted to spread the word about Improving Kids’ Environment’s annual Indiana Healthy Homes and Child Care Conference.  This year’s conference will be held October 5-6 at the Marten House Hotel & Lilly Conference Center in Indianapolis.  Early registration rates for the conference end September 13.

This year’s conference theme, “A Healthy Indiana Begins Where We Live, Learn, Work and Play,” will offer four concurrent learning tracks:
1) Keeping Children Lead-Safe;
2) Healthy Homes and Asthma prevention;
3) Environmental Health; and
4) Maintaining a Healthy Child Care Facility.

Sample breakout session topics include:
 Urban gardening in lead-contaminated soil
 CDC guidelines for pregnant women and lead
 Best practices for home visiting programs
 Keeping homes clean, dry, safe, well-maintained, ventilated, and
 Bedbug prevention and problem-solving
 Super bacteria in the food chain
 Health impacts of climate change
 Phthalates and BPA in household products
 Ensuring a healthy child care environment
