Ohio Hospitals are leading the way when it comes to Sustainability.  The OHA Environmental Leadership Council will be hosting a roundtable at Mercy St. Charles Hospital on August 29th from 9:30-2:00. OHA has invited speakers from FirstEnergy and the OHA Energy Team to help your hospital understand and take part in the FirstEnergy rebate program before the amount goes down. Mercy St. Charles will also be sharing how their landscape has changed with the addition of courtyard roofs with a roofing product called LiveRoof®. The inpatient and waiting rooms overlook a lush garden that changes colors with the seasons. Kent Meyers, director of facility services said it is just one of the many projects Mercy St. Charles has undertaken as part of the Champion Green program within Catholic Health Partners. Vegetative roofs offer many benefits including substantially lowering energy costs, reducing, storm water runoff and filtering out air contaminants. Studies show green roofs can reduce energy costs by more than 25 percent and heating costs as much as 60 percent.
