Dayton Business Journal: Report-Asthma Costs Top $2 Billion in Ohio

More than 1 million Ohio residents — including nearly 257,000 children — have asthma, and direct costs of treating the condition exceed $2.1 billion in the state, according to a new report. And Montgomery County is one of the top five worst Ohio counties for asthma.

The report, by the Health Care Without Harm, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments and the National Association of School Nurses, says the human and economic impact of asthma in Ohio and across the nation could significantly increase if Congress acts to stop updates to the Clean Air Act.
