NEW YORK (AP) — Walgreen Co. plans to start selling special envelopes to shoppers to help them dispose of any medications they no longer need.

The Deerfield, Ill., company says that starting Friday, shoppers can buy a special envelope at its pharmacies for $2.99. The envelope can be filled with unused medications and dropped in any mailbox and sent to a Sharps Compliance Corp. processing facility. The drugs will be destroyed in a medical incinerator, and the ashes will be used to make building materials.
