June 2, 2010, 12:32 pm

Intended Audience: State, local and tribal air quality agencies, environmental justice community organizations, environmental/health organizations, industry, and others.
When: Wednesday, June 9, 2010    Time: 1:00 to 4:00 PM EST
Learn more about new rules proposed by EPA, which will reduce emissions from boilers, process heaters, and solid waste incinerators.

Boilers and process heaters are sources of air pollution and are in virtually every community. There are also 172 commercial or industrial solid waste incinerators in the U.S. that may be affected by the proposed incinerator rule. Note: Municipal solid waste incinerators are covered under other EPA rules and will not be covered in this webinar.
EPA will also present information on the proposed definition of solid waste. This proposed rule addresses which non-hazardous secondary materials would be considered solid waste and which would be considered fuel. This definition identifies the types of materials that may be burned as a fuel in a boiler or whether they must be burned in a solid waste incinerator.
The format for the webinar will be an on-line presentation by EPA using maps and power point slides. You may view the slides on your computer and hear the presenter through your computer speakers (no microphone is needed). If you do not have computer speakers, you should email Regina Chappell ( for other audio options. You may use the “chat/questions” function to e-mail EPA during the presentation if you need further clarification or have additional questions.
EPA is hosting the webinar during the public comment period. You can use the webinar to become more informed about these proposals and to prepare your comments. The webinar is not a means of providing public comment on the proposed rules. We will be providing more information on public hearings and how to comment.
