The Center for American Progress recently published a report, “Reproductive Roulette,” that analyzes numerous scientific studies that show a clear degradation over the past several decades in both male and female adult reproductive health nationwide (fertility problems, miscarriages, preterm births, and birth defects are all up), and increasing developmental problems among young children.  The report theorizes that a major factor may be that chemical production and human exposure to these chemicals has increased dramatically.  The number of chemicals registered for commercial use now stands at 80,000 – a 30% increase since 1979 — and Americans are exposed in a variety of ways, including through industrial releases, contaminated food, household products and cosmetics, and workplaces where chemicals are used.
